S26-04177 LEARNING IN ACTION: A PROJECT BASED APPROACH—K—12 Deb Fitzpatrick — noelanddebfitz@gmail.com 3 Credits—Inservice— June 24 — August 15 This course will help educators master Project-Based Learning (PBL) You will gain the knowledge and confidence to design, run and assess PBL lessons that keep students deeply engaged. Participants will be introduced to PBL where knowledge wil be gained through hands-on projects instead of traditional lectures. After this course you will be able to transform your classroom into a dynamic space where students own their learning and create meaningful work that showcases their creativity and critical thinking. There will be two Optional Google Meets in June and July offered to support participant discussion, questions, and real-time collaboration.

American Mini Warrior is a high-energy summer fun fitness program where students build strength, agility, and confidence through safe, non-contact, boot-camp–style activities. Participants enjoy relay races, obstacle courses, team challenges, and American-themed skill games in a supportive, action-packed environment that promotes teamwork, coordination, and active fun. Program is conducted outdoors and indoors as needed.

Grades 7–12 Afternoon – Levittown Summer American Cook-Off: Culinary Arts Challenge (Classroom Edition – No-Bake) Bring the excitement of a culinary competition into the classroom! In this hands-on afternoon program, students will compete in engaging, no-bake culinary challenges inspired by classic and modern American cuisine. Using hot plates, electric skillets, and safe classroom appliances (no ovens), participants will prepare, assemble, and present creative sweet and savory dishes. Students will build foundational culinary skills including knife safety, flavor balancing, seasoning, stovetop cooking, food styling, plating, timing, and kitchen teamwork. Each session features timed “cook-off” style challenges highlighting regional American flavors while encouraging creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. The program culminates in a final team challenge where students showcase their skills in a fun, high-energy classroom competition. American Sculpting & Canvas Painting (Grades 6-8)One-Week Summer Intensive Dive into a week of hands-on artistic exploration in American Sculpting & Canvas Painting, designed for middle and high school students with a passion for creativity. This intensive program blends three-dimensional sculpting techniques with expressive painting, allowing students to bring their ideas to life in multiple mediums. Participants will experiment with sculpting materials to create original figures, abstract forms, and thematic art pieces inspired by American culture and contemporary styles. On the painting side, students will explore color theory, composition, and brush techniques as they design vibrant canvases that complement their sculptural creations. Emphasis is placed on self-expression, creativity, and technical skill development in a supportive, collaborative environment. By the end of the week, students will complete a portfolio of sculptures and canvas paintings, leaving with tangible works of art and enhanced artistic confidence. Students will become amusement park engineers, designing and building attractions through engaging, classroom-based STEM activities!

Students will explore the excitement of the circus through hands-on drawing, painting, and sculpting! They’ll create colorful artwork featuring playful characters and circus animals while learning foundational art concepts.

Crime Scene Escape The Room Challenge Week 2 Step into the role of a forensic investigator in this high-energy, one-week Crime Scene Escape Room Challenge designed for middle and high school students. Participants will work in teams to analyze mock crime scenes, collect and interpret evidence, crack codes, and solve logic-based puzzles to “escape” each scenario before time runs out. Throughout the week, students will apply critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and collaboration skills while exploring real-world concepts from forensic science, criminal investigation, and problem-solving. Activities may include fingerprint analysis, cipher decoding, timeline reconstruction, clue mapping, and evidence-based decision making—all woven into immersive escape-room style challenges. This course is ideal for students who enjoy mysteries, strategy games, and hands-on challenges. By the end of the week, participants will have strengthened their analytical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills while experiencing the thrill of solving complex cases under pressure.
